The NFL’s quarterback merry-go-round continued this offseason with several high-profile names finding new homes. Pro Bowlers like Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson and Mac Jones will all start the year with a new team. Justin Fields, Sam Howell, Jacoby Brissett Jimmy Garoppolo and Kenny Pickett have also been moved on.
Zach Wilson, however, who won a handful of games last season, remains in limbo about his future. With Aaron Rodgers set to return in 2024 and Tyrod Taylor signed as the New York Jets new back up, it seems highly unlikely that Wilson will return for a fourth season in the Big Apple.
Per a recent article from Pro Football Talk, the Jets have received offers for the 24-year-old, but are yet to accept a trade for the former first-round pick. According to a source, teams have showed interest in Wilson, but the Jets are currently “waiting for something better.”
The Jets saw something special in the quarterback when they selected him with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. That decision has not panned out as the organization may have hoped.
Over three seasons and 33 total starts with the Jets, Wilson has a underwhelming 12-21 record. He has recorded 6293 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, 25 interceptions and has a 57 percent completion percentage.
Wilson did have his moments last years but any team that brings the quarterback on knows that it will not be cheap. As we approach the NFL draft, it will be interesting to see if there is a team out there willing to gamble on the once highly rated quarterback.
