Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson, despite not playing in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, has expressed his desire to continue his football career.
At 39 years old, Peterson believes he can still outperform many of the younger players in the league.

He has not officially retired and is holding out hope for an opportunity to play this year.
Peterson’s impressive career includes leading the NFL in rushing in 2008, 2012, and 2015. However, his performance has declined in recent years, with only one 1,000-yard season since 2015.
Despite this, Peterson still needs 352 yards to surpass Barry Sanders for fourth place on the all-time rushing list. Whether he gets that chance or not, Peterson is eligible for a gold jacket in five years after his eventual retirement.
NFL running back Adrian Peterson expressed his desire to continue playing football, stating that he still has the passion and love for the game.
Despite his enthusiasm, Peterson faces challenges in finding a team willing to sign him due to his age.
At almost 40, he would be the oldest running back in the Super Bowl era if he were to play this season.
Currently, the title belongs to Lorenzo Neal, a fullback who played at 38 in 2008, or Frank Gore, who played at 37 in 2020.
Peterson’s last NFL game was in December 2021, and his prime was marked by impressive achievements, including leading the league in rushing three times and setting the single-game rushing record with 296 yards.
Although the odds may be against Peterson, his athleticism and potential need for experienced players could still lead to a team considering signing him.
However, if he doesn’t sign this year, Peterson plans to retire. If that happens, he has a strong case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, boasting the fourth-most rushing touchdowns and the fifth-most rushing yards in NFL history.

What being broke after a 15 year career does to a person

Well after finding out the way players have to tackle now, he might not be the only one lol.

Come to the lions bro. We can use you like Jerome Bettis on the goal line.
— The Alpha Factory (@SmithDCorey) March 26, 2024
He got knocked out by LeVeon Bell and didn’t know what to do after that 😂

RBs lose value at 28 and he thinks he’s getting a job at 39?!? Be an RB coach or something you done in the league
— Jared (@jaredm1575) March 26, 2024
They’re not even paying the younger, healthy RB in the league. But sign me up, damn it. If AP wants to play until his knees turn into Metamucil, I’m so in.
— Justin D (@_JustinD_D) March 26, 2024
wasn’t he just saying he wasn’t broke after everyone seen him selling shi?? maybe he actually is broke…
— Stephen (@Im_Stephenn) March 26, 2024
Honestly, I’d be fine if he were on a 1 day contract so he could end his career in Minnesota.
AP is done tho. Could be in Canton one day but he’s done.— Lucky84 🍉 (@Lucky_64B) March 26, 2024
Give him one more game as a Viking. Let him run a 1 yard TD and retire on a high note.

This is the first literal LOL in history
— #HEREWEGO (@wbowser05) March 26, 2024
He was blessed with elite talent. But he never grew. He never learned how to block or receive.
He also should’ve picked a good woman and married her instead of having children with anyone and not bothering to raise them.
Now he’s broke.

A 39 year-old RB? Yeah, no thank you.
— Kevin (@DOLFANKEV) March 25, 2024
Jesus Christ man hang it up. Nigga was drafted during the Bush administration.
— Akley (@MillsyPillsy) March 25, 2024
RBs get ignored after their late 20s, yet alone late 30s.
He hasn't played in 3 years.
He hasn't been a top RB since 2015.
Just draft a RB.
— Anthony (@4nthonylol) March 26, 2024
He might have a career resurgence since tackling got banned
— Paul DeMond (@PDemond21) March 26, 2024
He sees that no one is allowed to tackle anymore, so he is planning on breaking Emmitt's record this season.
