There is growing drama surrounding the signing of Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who may have violated the NFL anti-tampering rules.
Cousins said in an Atlanta press conference he spoke to Falcons staff the day before free agency began.
On Tuesday team owner Arthur Blank said the team did nothing wrong after signing him to a four-year $180 million deal.
Head coach Raheem Morris intimated Cousins’ excitement at joining the Falcons may have contributed to his wonky timeline.
“I’m really not allowed to really discuss right now while it’s under review, but I’ve got a lot of confidence in our people that we did the right thing,” Morris said.
“It is what it is, and some of those things happen when you get excited, when you’re talking about those things. We’ll talk about those things at the appropriate time. It’s just right now it’s probably not that time.”
The NFL have started investigations and video of the Falcons facility the day of said incident or phone records could clear up the case.
