With the NFL Draft due in a month, predictions are lined up, as per NFL executives the Washington Commanders could be eyeing J.J. McCarthy with the No. 2 overall pick.

NFL Network"s Tom Pelissero reported on Monday after the NFL owners" meetings, executives expect the Commanders to take Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy with the No. 2 overall pick.
Pelissero said,
"It"s been really interesting because everybody is always trying to figure out, especially at the top of the draft — what the other teams are doing. When I"ve had conversations here with executives for other teams who know [Washington GM] Adam Peters well, know the situation well, the most popular answer for what they do at No. 2 is J.J. McCarthy. So a lot of drama still to come."
Pelissero"s report mentioned that he has been in talks with several NFL executives who are in connection with Commander GM Adam Peters at the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando. On Thursday, McCarthy had met with the Commanders for a pre-draft visit and dinner.
Earlier, the Commanders were rumored to draft Jayden Daniels as the quarterback. FanDuel and DraftKings still predict Daniels as the betting favorite for Washington.
The 2024 NFL draft will take place at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit. Round 1 will begin on April 25, Rounds 2 and 3 are on April 26 and Rounds 4 through 7 are on April 27.
The Chicago Bears owns the No. 1 selection (via the Carolina Panthers) and the New York Jets own No. 257. Washington is yet to decide on who to take as a quarterback with their No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
