Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II admits team was initially against new kick-off rule change but voted with consensus in the end

The Steelers were initially against the idea of changes to the NFL kick-offs but voted on favor of change.

Owner Art Rooney II said the Steelers voted with the general consensus more than anything.

“We wound up voting for it after it was a foregone conclusion that it was going to pass,” Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“There was not a lot of enthusiasm to start” because of how significant a change to kick-offs that the new rule represents.

“It’s a dramatic change, no way around that,” Rooney said. “We had some reservations because of that. It’s going to be interesting.”

The 49ers, Raiders and Packers were the only teams to vote against the new change.
