One of the biggest free agents remaining on the market has been picked up with Jadeveon Clowney agreeing to terms with the Carolina Panthers. A handful of teams were reportedly interested in the linebacker, but the South Carolina native chose to sign with the Panthers.
A post on NFL insider Ian Rapoport’s X account confirmed the deal and in a follow up post he reported that the contract is a two-year, $20 million deal which could rise to $24 million. Rapoport also states that the New York Jets were in the mix and Clowney had also been in contact with the Ravens where he spent the 2023 season.

Clowney is regarded as one of the game’s premier linebackers and has had tremendous success over a 10-year spell in the NFL. The Houston Texans saw something special in the former South Carolina star when they selected him with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. After five seasons with the Texans, Clowney had stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.
Over his professional career, the 31-year-old has racked up 52.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 363 tackles and four defensive touchdowns.
Last season, the linebacker finished with 9.5 sacks, 9 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles over 17 games with the Baltimore Ravens.
Clowney is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named a NFL Second-team All-Pro in 2016.
