Former New England Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty has taken a humorous swipe at his brother Devin while advocating for the Patriots to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the forthcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
Jason McCourty’s advice to the Patriots at No. 3 in the draft (via @gmfb):
“Take a quarterback. Please, just take a quarterback. I don’t want to see you guys trade back and draft a Devin McCourty at the 27th pick…”

Among the potential quarterback prospects are Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy, with Caleb Williams anticipated to be snagged as the top pick by the Chicago Bears.
Daniels, 23, is poised to meet with the Patriots, who have displayed significant interest in the talented quarterback following his Pro Day.
Devin McCourty, a stalwart of the Patriots for 13 seasons, earned two Pro Bowl nods and clinched three Super Bowl victories during his tenure with the team. Notably, he had the opportunity to share the field with his brother Jason for three seasons, spanning from 2018 to 2020.
In contrast, Jason McCourty’s NFL journey featured stints with multiple teams, including the Titans, Browns, Dolphins, and the Patriots.
The Patriots, formerly the McCourty brothers’ team, endured a dismal 2023 season, culminating in a 4-13 record, the worst in the AFC East.
Quarterback Mac Jones bore a significant portion of the blame, tallying 12 interceptions against 10 passing touchdowns and concluding with a quarterback rating of 77.0 over 11 starts.
Bailey Zappe, who started the remaining six games, fared no better, registering nine interceptions to six touchdowns and an average of just 127.2 passing yards per game.
Given the lackluster performance of the Patriots quarterbacks last season, Jason McCourty’s jest-filled advice to prioritize drafting a signal-caller with the No. 3 pick appears prudent.
