The New Heights podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce is becoming must-watch content for NFL fans around the globe. The most recent episode featured two-time Pro Bowlers and 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley and provided with some fascinating details about the running back’s recent trade.
The New York Giants drafted Barkley in 2018 with the second overall pick out of Penn State University. Over six seasons in the Big Apple, he developed into one of the game’s top running backs amassing 5211 rushing yards and 47 total touchdowns over 74 games.
2024 brings exciting new possibilities for Barkley who opted for a changed of scenery this offseason and signed a three-year, $37.75 deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Joining a star-studded offense that includes Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown should allow the 27-year-old to flourish in an exciting new system.
Things could have been very different for Barkley, who admitted to the Kelce brother that he was initially interested to joining another NFL team.
“Probably the team that had my first interest was Houston. I got to communicate with C.J. and a couple of those boys,” said Barkley.
NEWS: Saquon Barkley first was interested in signing with the #Texans, not the #Eagles, after speaking with Houston.

With several of the offensive starts returning in 2024, the Houston Texans will enter the season with one of the most potent offense in the league. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was the Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. Nico Collins and Tank Dell are talented young receivers that have the potential to change games. Add to that one of the most reliable tight ends in Dalton Schultz, and it would have been fascinating to see what Barkley could as part of the Texas electrifying offense.
