“We’re excited for Tee to have a great year” Coach Zac Taylor Confirms Higgins’ Importance for Super Bowl Pursuit Despite Trade Request

The wide receiver of the Cincinnati Bengals, Tee Higgins, had earlier requested a trade after the organization had put on a franchise tag. However, it doesn’t appear the Bengals intend to trade Higgins.

Head coach Zac Taylor has expressed his eagerness for Higgins to become a part of the Bengals squad in the 2024 NFL season. According to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer via Pro Football Talk, he shared, “We’re excited for Tee to have a great year for us. We think he’s our best chance to help us win a Super Bowl. I’ve enjoyed working with Tee the last four years, I expect this year to be no different.”

Higgins is still under the control of the team for the next season, and will make $21.8 million if he plays under franchise tag this season. Taylor further shared, “Those are their business decisions they make and we’ll continue to prepare the guys that are there and get ready for training camp. Excited to have a great year with Tee.”

The Bengals have two receivers up for new contracts and during the annual league meeting, the Bengals executive vice president, Katie Blackburn has disclosed that the squad would prefer to stick with both players.

Blackburn shared via Cincinnati Bengals, “We like these guys. We have to work within the salary cap. So we have to figure out what that will mean, and how it can all stay together. That’s just what we have to work on and see where it takes us.”

Higgins has been one of the most prominent wide receivers in the league and surpassed the 1,000 yards mark both in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, Higgins registered 42 passes for 656 yards, including five touchdowns.
