Dbacks’ 14-run inning marks third-highest ever in MLB history, sets Opening Day record

The Arizona Diamondbacks launched their season with a historic 14-run onslaught in the third inning of their Opening Day clash against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night.

The D-backs’ remarkable 14-run outburst stands as the highest ever recorded in a single inning on Opening Day in MLB history.

Not only did Arizona etch their names in the record books with this feat, but they also set franchise records for the most hits and batters in an inning.

The Rockies found themselves struggling to contain the relentless onslaught, as it took them a whopping 34 minutes to secure just three outs.

By the end of the third inning, the D-backs had surged to an imposing 16-1 lead.

During their explosive inning, Arizona sent an astonishing 18 batters to the plate, delivering a relentless barrage of offense with 13 hits, two walks, and a sacrifice fly.

The Rockies attempted to stem the tide with three different pitchers – Kyle Freeland, Anthony Molina, and Jalen Beeks – but were unable to halt the D-backs’ offensive juggernaut.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Arizona’s dominant inning was their ability to produce such staggering offensive output without relying on the long ball.

Despite the absence of home runs, key contributions came from the likes of Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Christian Walker, Gabriel Moreno, and Geraldo Perdomo, each notching two hits apiece.
