Eagles trade Haason Reddick to Jets for conditional 2026 pick, potentially a 2nd rounder

The Philadelphia Eagles will trade edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick, which could become a second-round pick based on Reddick’s performance.

Reddick, a native of Camden and a former Temple college football player, is seeking a new contract and is expected to sign with the Jets after the trade. He performed exceptionally well for the Eagles but became the highest-paid player on the roster in 2024, leading to the trade.

The Jets have secured a valuable asset in Reddick, who will fill the void left by Bryce Huff. Reddick has excelled as a pass rusher, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. The trade aligns with the Jets’ goal of winning a Super Bowl with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Reddick’s departure may impact the Eagles’ pass rush, which struggled in the previous season. Reddick, who had a career-high 16.0 sacks in 2022 and 11.0 sacks in 2023, will be playing close to his college, Temple University.

The Jets made it clear that finding a replacement for Reddick was a priority for them, leading them to pursue Jadeveon Clowney and Shaquil Barrett. However, they ultimately traded for the disgruntled Reddick, believing him to be a more complete pass rusher.

The Eagles, on the other hand, acquired Bryce Huff, a younger talent, and are confident that he will bring more upside than Reddick.

Both teams had to consider their salary cap situations, with the Jets likely needing to restructure contracts to fit Reddick in. This trade will have a significant impact on both teams’ defenses.
