“He’ll be a big part of the architecture of the offense” Ravens HC John Harbaugh hints offensive changes for next season with QB Lamar Jackson at helm

The last season for the Baltimore Ravens went impressively and the squad ended first in the AFC North. They achieved great heights under the-then newly appointed offensive coordinator, Todd Monken.

The flow went incredibly well throughout the unit, enabling superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson to win his second Most Valuable Player title; he won the first one in 2019. Head coach John Harbaugh stated earlier that "It"ll look different, there’s no doubt" that the upcoming things will look different than the last campaign.

The squad underwent changes as three offensive linemen have departed and the wide receiver area has seen difference as well. However, despite the modifications, Jackson’s key role will not change and the head coach has further shared that his voice is cardinal and the squad wishes to centralize around him.

According to the Baltimore Ravens, he shared, "He’s got a lot of thoughts. I think he’s looking at every aspect of his game. He starts with himself; that’s what I love about Lamar. [He asks,] ‘What can I do better?’ And that’s why he continues to improve. Then, he goes to what we need, what we need schematically in his view, and he trusts the coaches."

He further continued, "We talked and shared ideas schematically, also personnel-wise. We’re kind of working on that now, and then, he’ll come back, and he’ll look at everything, and we’ll want to know what he thinks. Like, ‘Do you prefer this or this? Are you comfortable in this direction or that direction? What do you like? [Are there] any other ideas you had since we talked last?’ Lamar will be part of the architecture. I believe he’ll be a big part of the architecture of the offense."

With Monken"s second season with the Ravens, novel schemes, especially considering the offense will be expected from the prominent squad. The head coach also mentioned that changes in offense patterns are necessary and that "you can never keep it the same."
