The Cameroonian superstar injured his lateral meniscus in his left knee on January 30th in the game against the Golden State Warriors. In February, he had his surgery and was to be reevaluated within four weeks.
The reigning MVP was leading the league in scoring, posted 35.3 points per game and played 34 games in the season. With incredible scoring stats, including 11.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists, Embiid was leading the season. However, he has missed games and according to MVP rules and regulations, he will not be able to qualify for the race this season.
The 76ers, after playing against Oklahoma, will lock horns with the Miami Heat and then with the Memphis Grizzlies. With two weeks remaining in the regular season and Embiid’s potential return, the 76ers would once again be viewed as a formidable threat in the Eastern Conference.
