The ACC Tournament MVP, D.J. Burns Jr., has become one of the top players considering collegiate basketball and his NBA prospects are getting stronger with his performances in March Madness as well.
However, multiple media members have suggested that Burns could also make his future in the NFL. The NC State Wolfpack have entered the final four of the tournament and will next face the Purdue Boilermakers.
Albert Breer of SI’s Monday Morning Quarterback and Peter Schrager of the NFL Network shared their thoughts on Burns potential future in the illustrious league.
A top shelf left tackle can make $25 million per year. I don’t know enough about DJ Burns as an NBA prospect to know if that’s out there for him in basketball. But I don’t think a Jordan Mailata type of future for him in football would be totally out of the question. https://t.co/6WOKxwFXaD

Spoke to and texted multiple scouts/GMs about NC State big man DJ Burns as an NFL OT prospect over the last 24 hours. He is listed at 6’9, but probably is 6’7. A+ footwork. Would get big turnout & potentially $ if he participated in a Pro Day/workout the week after the Final 4. pic.twitter.com/zxyufktHeC

Beer in his post indicated the potential Burns had in him and how his future in the NFL could not be completely out of the question; however, Schrager in his post mentioned that he had conversations with the general manager and scouts regarding Burns.
The post garnered reactions, which were disclosed as April Fools Day; however, Ben Axelrod of the Awful Announcing confirmed from Schrager himself, who shared that the report was not made in jest. He disclosed this to Axelrod and mentioned, “Not a gag at all. He absolutely could garner NFL scouts to a workout.”
Peter Schrager reported that DJ Burns could draw serious interest from NFL teams and it was NOT an April Fools joke. 🔽https://t.co/hfjPrfLhfr
