Carson Wentz signs one-year deal with Chiefs

According to Jordan Schultz of the Bleacher Report, the Kansas City Chiefs have inked quarterback Carson Wentz to a one-year deal.

The move positions Wentz as the backup to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with Chris Oladokun and Ian Book rounding out the team"s quarterback roster.

At 31 years old, Wentz comes off a stint with the Los Angeles Rams in the previous season, during which he saw action in two games, with one start.

In 2023, he completed an impressive 70.8 percent of his passes for 163 yards, accumulating two touchdowns and an interception.

This signing marks Wentz"s fifth team in five years, showcasing his journey through various NFL franchises.

Initially drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the second overall pick in 2016, Wentz spent five seasons with the team before moving on to the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders, eventually landing with the Rams last season.

The acquisition of Wentz provides the Chiefs with a seasoned quarterback to bolster their depth behind Mahomes, who has maintained an impressive track record since assuming the role of full-time starter in 2018, missing only four starts during that time.
