In an intense NCAA Women’s Tournament game, the Louisiana State University (LSU) women’s basketball team faced off against the University of Iowa.

LSU Coach, Kim Mulkey, had quite a bit to say about the key player of the night, Caitlin Clark, from the opposing team.

Coach Kim Mulkey, who has overseen LSU’s basketball team in the last two tournaments, acknowledged Clark’s incredible scoring track record.

Clark, who previously scored 30 points and made eight rebounds in a championship game against LSU, left the coach with no other option but to revere her game.

This time, with a spectacular performance, Clark surged ahead with 41 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds.

Overall, she made 13 of her 29 shots from the field and nine of her 20 three-point attempts, equating her with the NCAA Women’s Tournament record.

While reflecting on the challenges of strategizing against a player like Clark, Mulkey concurred, “There’s not a whole lot of strategy.” “You got to guard her, nobody else seems able to guard her. We didn’t even guard her last year when we beat them. She’s just a generational player and she just makes everybody around her better. That’s what the great ones do.

“I think they had a kid that scored 21 (Kate Martin) and 18 (sic; 16; Sydney Affolter), (Clark) had 12 assists. Caitlin Clark is not going to beat you herself. It’s what she does to make those other teammates better that helps her score points and them score points to beat you.”

This came after a hard-fought game, where the teams entered the break on par at 45 each.

The third quarter saw Clark shine even more as she buried four three-pointer shots, leaving Iowa at a comfortable 69-58 lead entering the final quarter.

LSU might have been defeated, but Coach Mulkey was all about sportsmanship, going on to appreciate Caitlin Clark’s sports finesse.

After the game, Mulkey said, “What did I say to her? I said, ‘I sure am glad you’re leaving. Girl, you’re something else. Never seen anything like it.”
