On Monday, Caitlin Clark put on a dazzling display to guide her Iowa Hawkeyes team to the Final Four for a second year in a row. Clark was on a mission as she racked up 41 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds to overcome a talented LSU team that had crushed her dreams the year before. In the end, the Hawkeyes emerged victorious with a slender 94-87 victory to progress to the next round.
Up next for Iowa, the University of Connecticut Huskies. UConn’s team has set the standard in the women’s game with a record 11 national championships. Iowa is still in search of their school’s first title.
Clark may currently be the best college player in the country, but she did not always have the recognition she enjoys today. The sharp shooter was keen to attend UConn as a high school student, but failed to do enough to get their attention.
“I loved UConn. I think they’re the coolest place on earth, and I wanted to say I got recruited by them…But they never talked to my family and never talked to me, said Clark per a recent ESPN piece.

The decision to pass on Clark (or at least not aggressively pursue her) may be one the UConn staff is regretting. The Iowa native has been sensational this year shattering several NCAA basketball records along the way. The women’s game has also seen a significant increase in popularity since the emergence of the talented star.
On Friday, Clark will set her sights firmly on UConn, a school that never really recruited her. After a 41 point performance versus LSU, it will be interesting to see what she can do against the Huskies.
