At 38, Rajon Rondo, the individual redefined the role of point guards in the NBA, has called it a day.
Regularly a notable presence in any game he partook in, Rondo entertained fans across multiple teams with his unique playing style for 16 gripping NBA seasons.
Rondo revealed on the All The Smoke podcast that he is “absolutely” done playing in the NBA.
His priority now – be an ever-present figure in his children’s lives, taking time off the courts to dedicate to his family.

The final season saw Rondo moving between courts, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the 21 games he played for the Cavs, Rondo maintained a commendable average of 6.2 points with 4.9 assists.
Despite being plagued by injuries, which limited his appearances in games in the last four seasons, the veteran backcourt featured in eleven franchises throughout his career.
Rondo’s nine-year tenure with the Boston Celtics remains an iconic period during which he emerged as one of the league’s finest point guards.
From winning the NBA championship in 2008 to being a four-time All-Star, Rondo etched his place in NBA history.
Across 527 regular-season games with the Celtics, Rondo averaged 11. points, 8.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds.
The 2019-20 season with the Lakers was perhaps the highlight of Rondo’s recent years, where he significantly contributed to the team’s championship win.
In a career spanning 957 regular-season games, Rondo averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals.
He proudly sits 15th on the NBA’s all-time assists list, reflecting his dedication and hard-earned career.
