Brandon Marsh also contributed with a home run. The Phillies were able to bounce back from their previous loss in the series opener.
Pitcher Spencer Turnbull put in a solid performance, striking out seven batters in five innings.
Harper had struggled in the previous games but had a breakout performance against the Reds. He hit a solo home run in the first and fourth innings and completed the game with a grand slam in the seventh.
It was Harper’s second three-homer game and he finished with a career-high six RBI.
Reds’ manager David Bell acknowledged Harper’s outstanding performance and credited him for beating them. The game also saw a total of five errors, including two by Reds’ shortstop Elly De La Cruz.
The Phillies’ Ricardo Pinto made his first big league appearance since 2019 and earned his first career save. Pinto was added to the roster after right-hander Connor Brogdon was designated for assignment.
Despite facing travel challenges, Pinto made it to the game and expressed his determination to return to the major leagues.
Fans reacted as follows.

Has a player ever had only 3 hits in a season, and they were all homeruns?
