The job of a journalist/broadcaster is to ask the ask difficult questions and seek the answers the public is looking for. Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele was not offered that luxury when she sat down with president Joe Biden in 2021.
The television anchor who now features regularly on Fox News claims that during her 2021 interview with the president she had little control over the questions and topics.
A recent piece from popular sport media outlet Awful Announcing shed some light on the interview that Steele says was “scripted.”
“That was an interesting experience in its own right because it was so structured. And I was told, ‘You will say every word that we write out, you will not deviate from the script and go,” said Steele. “Every single question was scripted, gone over dozens of times by many editors and executives. Absolutely. I was on script and was told not to deviate. It was very much, ‘This is what you will ask. This is how you will say it. No follow-ups, no follow-ups. Next.”

Speaking on Fox News, Steele went on to say that she believes the interview had gone up to the “fourth floor” where many of the executives worked.
“I knew this was a lot bigger than the wonderful editors I worked with,” added Steele.
The upcoming elections are months away and president Joe Biden is set to once again face off with Republican Donald Trump.
