The Los Angeles Chargers begin Phase One of the offseason program and the newly appointed head coach, Jim Harbaugh, addressed the team for the first time at Hoag Performance Center.
After having a successful run with his former team, the Michigan Wolverines, the highly-sought after head coach was acquired by the Chargers. As per Omar Navarro of the Chargers, Harbaugh was enthusiastic and shared, “It’s like the start of a new year. Happy New Year.”
The voluntary offseason workout program’s first part comprises meetings, conditioning and strength exercises, and physical rehabilitation. Harbaugh was excited for the day’s events and called it a “great day”.
He mentioned, “Great day, it was just a great day for football, for meetings, training, doing a lot of baseline training with our guys. Just to have it started, coaches have been grinding. It’s the players though, they’re the ones that bring the operation to life and really giving us a lift.”
He further continued, “Just feeling like there’s a new lift and energy in the building. I see that eagerness in the players, maybe that’s kind of I’m so eager, but I truly see it, an eagerness in our guys. Good first day.”
Harbaugh and the staff were steadily improving for the inaugural day and the prominent head coach was thrilled at the outcome and how perfectly the whole aspect came together.
