The NFL, showing concern over the incident, stated that spokesperson Brian McCarthy and the league are closely monitoring the situation.
According to preliminary reports by the Dallas police, two cars, a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborghini were reportedly involved in a high-speed chase.
Both drivers lost control, resulting in a massive chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles.
While Rice’s involvement at the scene is still unknown, the preliminary police report has listed him as a likely driver of the Corvette involved.
The 23-year-old professional footballer is now being sought in connection with the accident. With an ongoing investigation, it’s unclear whether he is facing charges over the mishap.
The unfortunate accident resulted in minor injuries for both drivers at the crash site who were given medical attention immediately.
Two other individuals were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The drivers of both the Lamborghini and Corvette reportedly fled from the crash site without providing any information or checking on the state of other victims involved, as per the police report.
Rice attended college in Dallas at SMU. He was picked by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and had been a pivotal part of the team since then.
Despite setbacks, Rice ended the previous season as the team’s leading receiver in touchdowns, with an impressive track record.
