The All-Star pitcher of Toronto Blue Jays, Chris Bassitt, has extended his admiration to hitter and left fielder Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros as he hit two home runs.
According to The Athletic’s Kaitlyn McGrath, Bassitt shared about Alvarez, “He’s one of the best hitters in baseball. That’s what makes it challenging. He doesn’t really have a weakness other than a four-seam (fastball) up. And I don’t even consider that a weakness, but I don’t have a four-seamer, so it’s tough.”

The designated hitter for the Astros, Alvarez registered three extra-base hits and has always given an impressive performance against Blue Jays starter, Chris Bassitt. The pitcher could also be seen mentioning to Alvarez in jest, “You’re f***ing killing me, man.”
Against Bassitt, Alvarez has a record of 8-for-18 with 5 home runs. Alvarez also mentioned after the game, “I wasn’t trying to run into him there, he was trying to run into me. Basically what he asked me is, ‘How do I get you out?’ And I don’t know.”
The conversation that happened between the players veered towards brotherliness rather than competition. Their on-field rivalry can be traced back to the time when Bassitt was with the Oakland Athletics and they faced each other during the AL Division.
