In a recent interview on TNT, Murray talked about the possibility of returning to the Spurs, stating that Popovich is like a father figure to him. He indicated he would welcome the opportunity to play for the Spurs again but emphasized his current commitment to the Hawks.
Murray has been performing well this season, averaging 21.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. He has also been shooting efficiently from the field, beyond the arc, and free-throw line.
In July, the Hawks signed Murray to a lucrative contract extension worth $114 million over four years. He is set to earn $24.8 million in the 2024-25 season and $26.8 million in the 2025–26 season.
