Marlins Remain Winless at 0-8 After Loss to Mets, Sole Winless Team in MLB

The New York Mets finally won, breaking their losing streak after starting the season with five losses. They beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1 in the second game of a doubleheader on Thursday. This win leaves the Miami Marlins as the only team in baseball without a win, as they’re now 0-8.

Things looked bleak for the Mets for a while. During the game against the Tigers, they were down 1-0 for most of the match, and earlier in the day, they lost 6-3 to the same team. There was even a moment when it seemed like the Tigers might pitch a no-hitter against them in the second game.

The Tigers’ starting pitcher, Matt Manning, didn’t allow any hits for 5 2/3 innings, and the reliever, Tyler Holton, kept the no-hitter going into the eighth inning. However, the Mets’ centre fielder Harrison Bader spoiled their plans with a bloop single, ending the no-hitter bid.

Although the Mets got their first win, they still have work to do to compete in their division against teams like the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies.

As for the Marlins, they’re having a tough start to the season. Not only did they lose to the St. Louis Cardinals, but they also lost one of their players, Eury Perez, for the rest of the season due to injury.

Starting a season with so many losses isn’t easy for any team. The Marlins’ eight-game losing streak is reminiscent of the struggles faced by teams like the 2016 Braves and Twins, who lost nine games in a row at the beginning of their seasons and didn’t do well overall that year.
