“No, do not mess up what I’m doing.”: Humphrey Offered to Reach Out to Derrick Henry, but DeCosta Jokingly Declined

Although Derrick Henry has yet to play a single game for the Baltimore Ravens, his off-field moves are already making waves. Marlon Humphrey, who has played with Henry at the University of Alabama and is now his teammate again with the Ravens, shared some behind-the-scenes insights on his “Punch Line Podcast.” When he heard about the Ravens’ interest in signing Henry, Humphrey offered to help recruit him. However, the team’s general manager, Eric DeCosta, jokingly told him to avoid it and let things unfold naturally.

Although DeCosta didn’t outright forbid Humphrey from talking to Henry, the cornerback couldn’t resist dropping hints during their conversations, especially when it seemed Henry was leaning towards joining the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite Humphrey’s efforts, Henry and DeCosta surprised him by finalizing a new two-year, $16 million contract. Even Humphrey was taken aback by the news, reacting with a loud “Bro!” when the deal was sealed.

This isn’t the first time Humphrey and Henry have teamed up. They were both key players on Alabama’s national championship team in 2015 before being drafted early into the NFL, with Henry going to the Tennessee Titans and Humphrey joining the Ravens.

Now, the Ravens hope their reunion will be just as successful as their college days, as they aim to make a strong impact together on the field.
