Patriots hold the No. 3 in the 2024 draft and are meeting with two top quarterback prospects ahead of selection, as per reports
Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Patriots are meeting with North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye on Friday at Gillette Stadium.
Following NFL Network, Ian Rapoport reported, that the team will then meet with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels on Monday in New England, also per Daniels’ agent Ron Butler.
Daniels, The Heisman Trophy winner also has visited or is scheduled to meet with the Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos, and Raiders.
B/R NFL Scouting Department had ranked Maye and Daniels as the No. 1 and No. 3 quarterback prospects in the 2024 draft, respectively.
On The Adam Schefter Podcast, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Thursday that he believes “signs continue to point to Jayden Daniels being the second overall pick.”
Daniels said in Baton Rouge, per Christopher Price of The Boston Globe,
“I played in Death Valley after Joe Burrow. I feel like I’m ready for anything. I’m a game-changer at the quarterback position. That’s what I can bring to that franchise.”
In his five-year collegiate career, Arizona State and LSU included, Daniels has completed 66.3% of his passes for 12,750 yards, 89 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
In 12 games last season, he completed 72.2 percent of his passes for 3,812 yards with 40 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns.
