Stefon Diggs, the newest member of the Houston Texans, will wear No. 1 next season, creating a “7-1-3” trifecta with quarterback C.J. Stroud (No. 7) and receiver Tank Dell (No. 3).
Diggs wore No. 1 during his college days at Maryland and paid Jimmie Ward $100,000 to switch numbers with him.

Diggs joins an offense that performed well last season behind Stroud and hopes to see a more energized version of Diggs, who had a hot start in 2023 but struggled in the latter part of the season.
Since his trade to the Buffalo Bills in 2020, Diggs has been one of the league’s most consistent receivers.
The Texans are optimistic about Diggs’ performance next season, especially with a healthy Dell back on the field.
While Diggs’ current contract ends in 2024, there is a possibility he may return on a new contract in the future.

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will be wearing a New Jersey number as he begins his career with the team.
After wearing No. 14 throughout his time with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, Diggs has chosen to wear No. 1 for the Texans.
The team announced the switch, noting that Diggs’ new number will form the Houston area code of 7-1-3 along with C.J. Stroud and Tank Dell.
Diggs was traded to Houston earlier this week after a successful four-year stint in Buffalo where he made the Pro Bowl each season.
During his time with the Bills, Diggs achieved over 1,000 receiving yards and 100 receptions in each of the four seasons, helping the Bills become contenders in the AFC.
Although Buffalo was not able to reach the Super Bowl with Diggs on the roster, he played a crucial role in developing quarterback Josh Allen into one of the league’s best.
Sometimes when there's a jersey number change in #NFL, it comes at a price. New #Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs obtained the No. 1 jersey from veteran safety Jimmie Ward, for roughly $100,000, per league sources @KPRC2 And Ward is back to No. 20, his old #49ers number @KPRC2

Now, Diggs looks to do the same with C.J. Stroud, who is coming off an impressive rookie season.
The Texans have also made other notable acquisitions during the offseason, including running back Joe Mixon and linebacker Danielle Hunter, as they aim to build a team around Stroud and compete for a Super Bowl.

The 1 is for 1 year until he's a free agent. Or 1 year until he's back in Buffalo ???

Diggs could break the single season yard record and I still think we should extend Nico over him (I’m guessing he thinks he’s a Texan for a while if he’s paying this much)

$100k for a number that he might only have for 1 year? That's expensive. Wish I had that sort of 'fuck you money' to toss around

Why would he not wear his number 14? That until further notice, Jimmy Ward is still on this team. 😏

100k for a jersey number is 2 much money. When they’re on the field I don’t think too many people are paying attention to the number on the jersey. As a fan Texans build that chemistry & put a good product on the field. Work for it & earn it. Could b something special.Go Texans!

1 gonna be his average number of targets per game with the other talented receivers on that squad
