The preparation for the Yankees’ home opener was hit by a 4.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Yankee Stadium on Friday before the club’s game against the Blue Jays.
Aaron Judge said that he felt the earthquake this morning. Asked where he was and what he was doing, Judge laughed and said: “I don’t want to say.”

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres was hitting in the batting cage when the earthquake struck the northeast of the United States on Friday morning around 10:23 a.m. ET.
Yankees star Aaron Judge whereabouts were undefined, he wasn’t on the field at Yankee Stadium ahead of the home opener, and when the earthquake shook for more than 30 seconds.
Judge shared, that the rumbles were usually felt at the Stadium before games but that the shaking on Friday was different, he declined to share where he was when it happened. He said,
“I felt that pregame. Usually, you feel a couple of rumbles in the stadium pregame, but that one was a little bit different. I don’t want to say.”
Yankees’ starting pitcher Friday, Marcus Stroman who was at his locker, recalled what was happening,
“I was at my locker, we all felt it. It was one of those things that was more shocking. We were asking, ‘What was that?’ We thought it was maybe somebody pushing something up on the concourse. No one really knew.”
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 4.8 magnitude earthquake could be felt from Boston to Baltimore.
The epicenter was detected about 45 miles west of New York City in Tewksbury, New Jersey, but no major damage or disruptions were reported.
