San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich issued a stern warning to opposing teams about the defensive prowess of New Orleans Pelicans’ rookie sensation, Herb Jones.
“Avoid him like the plague. You don’t want him guarding you,” Popovich emphasized. “You think I am just being funny? I told our guys, if he is there, give it to somebody else. That’s the deal.”

Popovich’s remarks shed light on the impact Jones, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Alabama, has been making on the defensive end of the court.
Jones, who was selected 35th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has quickly gained a reputation for his tenacity, agility, and defensive instincts, drawing comparisons to some of the league’s elite defenders.
The Pelicans rookie has been a standout performer in his debut NBA season, showcasing his ability to guard multiple positions effectively.
