Earlier this week, University of South California guard Bronny James, the son of four-time NBA MVP Lebron James, officially declared for the NBA draft.
The draft is not until June and there is still no certainty that he will be drafted. James’ college number have been underwhelming with him averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game over 25 games with the Trojans. Bronny does have the opportunity to return to college next season if he is not selected.
Despite his subpar offensive numbers, one former player believes that this is the time for the young guard to make the step up. Two-time NBA All-Star Baron Davis recently spoke to TMZ Sports on James’ decision to declare for the pros.
“I think for him to declare for the draft will be good because he may be a better pro than he is a college player,” said Davis.
Davis was full of praise for Bronny James and went on to say the NBA could suit him. He goes on to compliment the players skillset.
“He’s athletic, he’s a smart point guard, he can shoot the ball,” added Davis.
LeBron James has stated that that he hopes to play alongside Bronny in the league before he calls it quits. Any team that does take a chance on the 19-year-old will know that there is a good chance LeBron James may come along for the ride.
