Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Faces Contract Standoff Ahead of Fifth Season

One of the top-notch wide receivers in the league, Dallas Cowboys CeeDee Lamb, will be playing his fifth season with the squad. On his rookie contract, the wide receiver will be heading into his fifth-year option.

Lamb is also not expected to attend the voluntary work and he could even hold up going into the training camp. According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, shared via Heavy. “Barring a contract extension that, when complete, is expected to make Lamb the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, Lamb won’t take the field. At least, that is the precedent he appears certain to follow.”

Lamb’s agent, Tory Dandy, did not respond to a request for comment on whether Lamb will accompany teammates at Ford Center at The Star for the Cowboys’ spring workouts. But of course, Dandy and Lamb are aware attendance is voluntary for the bulk of spring.

If the wide receiver does not receive the contract that he is looking for, then the most likely outcome could be a holdout. Several players in the past have actively negotiated for a contract without paying the fines that are associated with having holdouts from the camp sessions.

Lamb was picked up by the Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft in the first round as the 17th pick. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has become one of the best in his field and in the last campaign, he registered 135 receptions for 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns. His value in the league is currently high and he will be looking forward to a long-term contract with the squad.
