The Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year of 2020, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end, Pat Freiermuth will be commencing the 2024 NFL season under a new veteran quarterback, Russell Wilson.

After the Steelers traded Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, the tight end has been working on building his connection with Wilson. During one of the episodes of “Around The 412 Podcast”, Freiermuth shared how he found out about Wilson among other things.

According to Pro Football Talk, he shared, “My girlfriend woke me up and said, ‘You guys got Russell Wilson.’ So that’s how I found out.”

Regarding Wilson, the tight end mentioned via the NFL network, “I was just down there in San Diego with him working out and throwing routes. He’s been great at talking to guys and starting to build that connection. He’s a great guy. You can tell the drive and determination that he has to win and come to Pittsburgh and win some playoff games for us. I think he is going to fit our culture and locker room very well.”

Freiermuth also highlighted how Wilson is positively determined to spearhead the Steelers squad in the next NFL season, reflecting on his throwing session as well. He also shared that he is excited about quarterback Justin Fields stating, “I’ve heard nothing but great things about him and he’s a hell of a quarterback.”

He mentioned via the NFL.com, “I want to be in Pittsburgh for the rest of my career. Hopefully, it shakes out that way. I want to continue to play for Pittsburgh because it reminds me of where I’m from and how I was raised.

The tight end was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2021 NFL Draft in the second round as the 55th pick. His season with the Steelers will be his fourth one and he has also disclosed that he would like to remain with the squad for a long time.
