In wake of resignation of Kentucky HC John Calipari, Alabama head coach Nate Oats is being targeted as replacement

Kentucky head coach John Calipari quit the men’s basketball team last night and College teams and fans have been ducking for cover.

Pundits like Paul Finebaum had stated that Alabama Crimson HC Nate Oats could be in line for the position.

This has led to consternation in the Crimson camp.

Oats has been honing the Alabama program since 2020 and has proved to be one of the winningest head coaches since he took up the whistle in 2015.

He had the almost impossible task of transforming the basketball program at the football-mad school.

He has led the team to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past four seasons.

The past season has culminated in one of the most successful, earning the team the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, and appearing in its first-ever Final Four.

Oats and Alabama will face perennial NCAA legends UConn on Saturday and the last thing they need is speculation about their beloved head coach.

There are a few stumbling blocks to get him out of Alabama including an $18 million buyout clause.

His family are happy in Tuscaloosa, and he has one daughter enrolled in Alabama with more siblings set to follow.

For now, it’s all about the Crimson, and their show off this weekend.
