“It’s like a piece of us is gone” Warriors Klay Thompson Opens Up About Draymond Green’s Numerous Ejections And How It Hurts The Team

Along with Steph Curry, forward Draymond Green and guard Klay Thompson have been a vital part of the Golden State Warriors legendary trio that have gone on to win four NBA championships over the last decade.

The Warriors, however, have struggled this year and are barely holding on to a play-in spot with a mediocre 43-35 record. A big reason for that has been the loss of Green for a substantial portion of the season. Disciplinary issues mean Green has featured in just 53 games this season. The no-nonsense power forward has been ejected from four times this season. The loss of one their start players has been a major setback for a Warriors team that is doing all they can to hold on to their title of “NBA dynasty.”

During a recent interview on The Draymond Green Show podcast, Klay Thompson made an appearance. After Green asked Thompson what he feet every time he gets ejected, the sharp shooting guard opened up about Green’s contribution to the team, and what it means when he is not on the court.

“When you’re not out there, it’s like a piece of us is gone,” said Thompson. “We can never be ourseleves and have the freedom we do on the court without you.”

The two players have played together since 2012 when Green broke into the Warriors team as a rookie. Since then, the they have combined for a total of over 1600 games for the franchise and have nine All-Star appearances under their belt between them.

“I know the other team is very happy you’re not out there. They relax a little bit…Our muscle is gone, our enforcer the guy at the heartbeat of our team is not out there….we just need you,” added Thompson.

Klay Thompson went on to say the the Warriors are just not the same without “money Green.”
