UConn"s triumph marks the first time since Florida achieved the feat in 2006 and 2007 that a team has won back-to-back titles in men"s college basketball.
The Huskies showcased their exceptional form throughout the tournament, winning each of their 2024 NCAA tournament games by at least 14 points, continuing the trend from the previous season where they won all six tournament games by at least 13 points.
Despite Purdue"s strong start and the stellar performance of star player Zach Edey, who scored 16 points in the first half, UConn surged ahead in the second half, overwhelming the Boilermakers with relentless play from its backcourt.

The highly anticipated matchup between Naismith Player of the Year, Zach Edey, and UConn"s Donovan Clingan, expected to be a showdown in the post, ultimately took a backseat as UConn"s perimeter players took control of the game.
As UConn extended its lead to 16 points with over nine minutes remaining, Purdue refused to concede, but UConn"s Cam Spencer effectively sealed the game with a jumper in the lane, extending the lead to 18 points with 5:12 left on the clock.
Despite entering the game as the nation"s second-best 3-point shooting team, with a nearly 41% success rate on almost 21 attempts per game, Purdue struggled to find openings against UConn"s stifling defense, limiting their opportunities from beyond the arc.
The victory cements UConn"s status as a dominant force in college basketball, with the team now joining an elite group of just eight schools to have won consecutive men"s basketball national championships.
