The prominent tight end of the New England Patriots, Hunter Henry, has nothing but positive words for the new head coach of the Patriots, Jerod Mayo, who was earlier the inside linebackers coach of the squad from 2019 to 2023.
Henry has also signed a three year contract with the Patriots, which is worth up to $30 million. He shared his thoughts on Mayo and his potential, with which he can succeed in his position.
Hunter mentioned as per Pro Football Talk via NBCSportsBoston, "I’ve always loved Jerod — bounced some things off of him the past few years. We have a great relationship, always have admired him. I didn’t get a lot of hands-on experience with him, with him being on defense. But loved his energy. Just loved his persona and what he brought to the building every single day. So, I’m excited to see that as it blossoms with him as a head coach."

Further continuing, "He’s been in our seats — literally been where we are and played and also been a coach, too. So he’s seen both sides of it. So, I think just that from your leader, seeing both sides to it and understanding us a little bit, too, and what we want, and, maybe, listening to us, is good. He’s been exactly where we are, so he knows what we want, knows kind of how things go. So I think him just [having] that player experience is big for us."
The tight end, who was selected in the 2016 NFL Draft in the second round as the 35th pick, mentioned that one of the factors that Mayo will be able to find success with the squad as an head coach is his experience as a player. His background is what makes a difference, as the players can rely on him because he has been in the same position as them.
