As reported by CBS News, Trevor Story dislocated his left shoulder in a game on April 5, 2024. Initial reports were uncertain about the severity.
However, today, it has been revealed that Story has a fractured glenoid in his shoulder, which isn’t his throwing arm. The glenoid is the socket in the shoulder blade where the ball of the arm bone sits. This type of injury requires surgery and a lengthy recovery time.
Thus, Trevor Story will undergo surgery to repair the fracture in his shoulder. The recovery timeline is at least six months, effectively ending his season.
His injury is a major blow to the Red Sox. The Red Sox will need to find a replacement shortstop while Story recovers. Manager Alex Cora mentioned platooning at both shortstop and second base to address this gap.
