“To play 13 years in the NFL has been a dream come true” Steelers QB Russell Wilson optimistic on his journey, praises HC Mike Tomlin

The Super Bowl champion quarterback, Russell Wilson, who has recently joined the Pittsburgh Steelers squad, after spending two seasons with Denver Broncos and ten seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, will begin his new journey with his new squad.

Wilson expressed his excitement to commence the next phase of his career with the Pittsburgh family in a recent interview with Okla Jones of Essence. The nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback is one of the top quarterbacks in the league and he shares, "To play 13 years in the NFL has been a dream come true to be able to play for Mike Tomlin; to stand side by side with him and try to accomplish all the goals that I want to accomplish with the Steelers organization, and what that represents for the NFL, is one of the greatest gifts in the world."

The quarterback has recently signed a one-year $1.21 million deal with the Steelers, who have found stability under their head coach, Mike Tomlin. The quarterback found major success with the Seahawks, with whom he played for the majority of his career.

Wilson further mentioned, "For me to be able to go to back-to-back Super Bowls, and win one of them, I think opened up a lot of doors. Now you see guys like Patrick Mahomes who won it; it’s really just us so far, but there’s more to come."

"What I love to see is guys getting drafted early, and that a lot of teams these days have Black quarterbacks playing for them. … It’s all across the league, and it’s showing how the National Football League is starting to evolve, change, and break down barriers. I think one of the biggest blessings of my career so far is that I’ve been fortunate to be able to open up doors for others, because of what others did for me."

Wilson is anticipated to begin the season as the starting quarterback and they have also added two-time Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Justin Fields, who was earlier with the Chicago Bears.

He played in fifteen games last season and the head coach also shared that quarterback is in "pole position" and mentioned, "[Wilson"s] just got a lot of experience in terms of what it takes to be the guy over the course of a 12-month calendar and I just think that that"s something that a younger guy like Justin could learn from."

In the last campaign, he threw for 3,070 yards, including 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
