The Uconn Huskies are in danger of fading away into mediocrity despite winning their second successive NCAA title against Purdue this week.
Much like the San Antonio Spurs the team should be regarded as a legacy side, picking up their sixth national title in 25 years.
But they are bleh.
Both the Huskies and the Spurs play out of non-traditional basketball hubs and both have been labeled boring.
Boring, yet winning, UConn are not on the mind of the casual observer and their final only drew a tad over 14.4 million viewers.
Uconn’s two wins have the unenviable record of being the least watched NCAA finals in history.
The Spurs vs the Cavaliers has the NBA low of just 9.29 million viewers, closely followed by their finals win over the Nets in 2003.
