“A party animal” and “class clown.” NFL scouts on DT T’Vondre Sweat before he was arrested in Austin after drink and drive accident involving former Longhorns teammate S’Maje Burrell

Former Texas Longhorns football defensive tackle and Outland Trophy winner of 2023 T’Vondre Sweat was arrested in Austin on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Texas linebacker S’Maje Burrell has been identified as the driver of the vehicle which was involved in a rear end accident over the weekend.

Some NFL scouts picked up a worrying trend ahead of the 2024 draft describing Sweat as a “party animal” and “class clown.”

According to inside reports from the Longhorns, Burrell, the four-star recruit and a key signing of the 2023 class is no longer with the team.

A report emerged that explained that Burrell was the driver.

“When T’Vondre Sweat was arrested early Sunday morning in a driving while intoxicated case, it involved a car accident in which the former University of Texas star defensive tackle was rear-ended by another driver,” the report states. “The other driver in that accident has been identified as a current Longhorns football player. In a heavily redacted incident report provided to LoneStarLive.com by the Austin Police Department, redshirt freshman linebacker S’Maje Burrell is listed as the driver of the other vehicle.”

Longhorns HC Steve Sarkisian said in a statement.

“We’re aware of the situation involving S’Maje Burrell and have suspended him indefinitely from all team activities for conduct detrimental to the program.”
