Exclusive: Walt Williams previews potential clash of Nuggets and Celtics in NBA Finals as regular season winds down

In a recent exclusive interview with Overtime Heroics Senior Editor Reggie Roberts, basketball analyst Walt Williams shared insights into the potential clash between the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets in the upcoming NBA Finals as the regular season draws to a close.

“It seems as if the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets have been on a collision course to the NBA Finals all year long,” remarked Roberts. “If both teams do get to the Finals, who do you like?”

Williams responded saying, “I think that’s a match-up a lot of fans might want to see, but there are some dangerous teams in the West (Minnesota, OKC and LA Clippers) that all have legitimate shots of getting hot and earning a trip to the NBA Finals. Boston, no doubt, has been the most consistent team in the League; Denver, on the other hand, has championship experience and The Joker (Nikola Jokic) is playing at an MVP level. It’s all shaping up to be a pretty solid NBA playoff season.”

Discussing Boston’s acquisition of power forward Kristaps Porzingis, who was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Williams emphasized the impact Porzingis has made this season.

“Boston needed someone who could score the basketball but more importantly, they needed someone who could protect the paint and make guys think twice about going to the basket uncontested,” stated Williams.

He added, “Porzingis has done that. He has incredible length. He is a guy who can block and alter shots and that’s a big thing come playoff time. He is one of the reasons the Celtics (combined with the offensive output of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown) have the best record in the NBA by a long shot. They’ve played incredibly well all season.”

As the NBA regular season winds down, the potential match-up between the Celtics and Nuggets looms large, promising an exciting showdown if both teams advance to the Finals.
