On April 10, 2024, former NBA player Ben McLemore was arrested in Oregon on charges of sexual assault and rape.

McLemore is facing serious charges including first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. He was reportedly arrested at the Portland International Airport. While details are scarce, authorities say the alleged sexual assault happened in early October of 2021, while McLemore was playing for the Portland Trail Blazers.

An indictment by a grand jury apparently happened in February 2024, leading to his recent arrest. McLemore was expected to be arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court.

Ben McLemore currently plays for Río Breogán, a team in the Spanish League. He played college basketball at the University of Kansas before entering the NBA draft in 2013. Drafted by the Sacramento Kings, McLemore spent four seasons there before bouncing around to a few other NBA teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. While showing promise as a scorer early in his career, he never quite reached his full potential in the NBA. He left the NBA in 2022.
