Former NFL player O.J. Simpson passed away on April 10, 2024, at the age of 76, after battling cancer, as confirmed by his family. According to a post on Simpson’s X account, he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his passing. The post, shared by his family, conveyed their request for privacy and grace during this difficult time.

The post stated:

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace-The Simpson Family.”

Following the announcement, NFL fans expressed varied reactions to O.J. Simpson’s death, considering his involvement in his ex-wife’s murder decades ago. Here’s a glimpse at how NFL fans responded to the news:

One fan wrote, “This man ruined the lives of 3 families, including his own. I have no sympathy for OJ….. just respect for his children and what he put them through.”

“RIP Nicole. RIP Ron. Now OJ will get an honest judgement,” wrote another fan.

“OJ Simpson was a cancer that died of cancer,” read a third comment.

Another fan wrote, “Karma. I just wonder if he suffered enough for what he did.”

“He was gúiltly so I can’t feel sympathy for him! I am sorry but I just can’t,” read a fifth comment.

The O.J. Simpson murder trial was a monumental event in American history.

In June 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death outside Nicole’s condo. O.J. Simpson, Nicole’s ex-husband and an NFL star, became a prime suspect.

The trial lasted 11 months, becoming a media frenzy. Millions followed the daily proceedings. There was a presented case based on DNA evidence, blood at the crime scene, and a history of domestic violence between O.J. and Nicole.

Defense led by Johnnie Cochran cast doubt on the evidence, accused the LAPD of racism, and argued the blood samples were mishandled.

On October 3, 1995, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of both murders in a verdict that shocked many. The acquittal sparked national outrage and discussions about race and the justice system. A subsequent civil trial in 1997 found Simpson liable for the deaths, though he never faced jail time.
