With his incredible performances, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is making waves in the NBA. With four All-NBA First-Team selections and some eye-popping stats, he’s already being talked about as one of the all-time greats.
Recently, Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban spoke on Draymond Green’s podcast about whether Doncic is better than Dirk Nowitzki, a legendary figure in Mavericks history. Cuban believe Doncic is, and even Nowitzki himself would agree.
“Yes. No disrespect to Dirk. Dirk knows I love him to death… Dirk will be the first one to tell you Luka’s better,” : Said Cuban .

Mavs coach Jason Kidd echoed Cuban’s sentiment, placing Doncic in the same league as basketball icons like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.
But there’s a difference between being the “best” and the “greatest.” Nowitzki’s achievements make him the undisputed greatest player in Mavericks history. However, comparing Doncic’s impact now to Nowitzki’s peak is a different conversation.
For Doncic to be considered the greatest Maverick ever, he’ll likely need to win an MVP award and bring home a championship. But given his already remarkable impact, achieving those feats wouldn’t be surprising.
