John Stockton, the NBA Hall of Famer, has recently taken a rebellious stance against vaccines and COVID-19 restrictions.
His reasons, however, diverge from scientific consensus and are rooted in personal experiences and misconceptions.
In a federal court declaration, Stockton joined other plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the Washington State Office of the Attorney General.
The lawsuit challenges the state’s policies that restricted doctors from speaking out against what Stockton refers to as “the mainstream Covid narrative.”
He believes that doctors’ free-speech rights were violated when they expressed views contrary to this narrative.
Stockton’s personal experiences play a significant role in his opposition.
He contracted the flu decades ago despite receiving the flu vaccine, leading him to notice a “pattern.”
Additionally, he claims that one of his children suffered harm from vaccines. A chiropractor even advised him to consider not vaccinating his children.

The retired NBA star and his fellow plaintiffs seek a preliminary injunction to prevent the defendants from investigating or sanctioning physicians who speak out against the government endorsed Covid narrative in public forums.
In a sports documentary in 2021, Stockton expressed his frustration:
“My kids and grandkids hearing these things and accepting them as truth when I know by my significant amount of research that it isn’t, it’s very frustrating.”
He also pondered whether the sports world missed out on the next great athlete due to pandemic shutdowns, emphasizing the potential loss if someone like Steph Curry hadn’t become who he is.
Stockton’s rebellion reflects a broader trend among professional athletes, including Kyrie Irving, Aaron Rodgers, Novak Djokovic, and Bryson DeChambeau, who have also questioned Covid-19 vaccines and restrictions.
While Stockton’s views are deeply personal, it’s essential to recognize the scientific consensus and rely on evidence-based information when making decisions about public health.
Fans reacted as follows.
His chiropractor told him not to take it? Might as well have been his chef. Or his tax guy. Just as relevant.

It’s his beliefs. Plus compared to what atrocities these athletes do these days I’m be fine with Stockton being anti vax compared to the OTHER options pic.twitter.com/pzCnm3UCQA
