After the final home game of the year, the Detroit Pistons have the NBA’s worst record at 13-67, guaranteed to finish worse than the 1979-80 team which finished with 16 wins.
In Thursday’s Pistons’ home finale game, they lost, 127-105, to the Chicago Bulls at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons committed 20 turnovers, out of which the Bulls scored 36 points.

Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan’s 39 points, four rebounds, and seven assists, and Nikola Vucevic’s 27 points, and 11 rebounds weigh heavily on Detroit’s final home game.
Meanwhile, the Pistons shot 49-4% overall and knocked down 14 of their 35 3-pointers (40%) their scoring was led by Jalen Duren’s 20 points, 11 rebounds, and Marcus Sasser’s 20 points, five assists.
As predicted, with only two games remaining, the Piston’s 13–67 records can no longer finish better than the team that went 16-66 in 1979-80.
Pistons head coach Monty Williams shared after the game,
“They just had so many more possessions, and we were playing in transition pretty much the whole night, just off the turnovers alone. It’s something I’ve not been able to help our guys with enough as far as playing in the crowd, playing in passing lanes, and then the points off turnovers. Thirty-six points off turnovers is hard, you have got to do something extraordinary to overcome that, and we just didn’t do a good job tonight.”
The Pistons had opened their season with high expectations for their young core, kicking off this season’s home slate with a convincing 118-102 win over the Chicago Bulls back in October. But things didn’t pan out as their journey set a new franchise low on Thursday.
The Pistons’ final two games will be played in Texas as they will take on the Mavericks on Friday before ending the season against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
