Greg Norman’s son revealed that his father had to buy a weekly pass from the secondary market to attend The Masters after being denied a ticket through professional channels.
🚨🎟️🚫 #ACCESS DENIED — Greg Norman was denied entry into The Masters after attempting to go through “proper professional channels”. The LIV boss had to get a ticket on the secondary market instead, per @GregJrNorman

The 69-year-old, who is the CEO of LIV Golf, made a surprising appearance to support the LIV Golf players. This was his first time at Augusta National since taking the role in 2022.
Although Norman never won The Masters, he had been a runner-up three times. He was seen walking outside the ropes with a security guard, interacting with LIV Golf players and Australian golfer Min Woo Lee.
Norman’s presence at The Masters is expected throughout the week as he continues to support the LIV Golf players. Norman Jr emphasized that despite receiving hate online, the majority of people they encounter are positive and supportive of LIV Golf.

Greg Norman, CEO of LIV Golf, was seen at Augusta National during the Masters tournament. Although he was not invited, Norman purchased a ticket on the secondary market to attend as a patron.
He was there to support the LIV players and watched them practice their short irons during the Par-3 Contest. Despite not receiving an official invitation, Norman received positive support from golf fans.
His son, Greg Norman Jr., explained on social media that they have faced hate from financially motivated or online trolls, but most people they encounter are supportive.
Yes. All this is true.
My dad paid for a ticket on the secondary market to attend the Masters as a patron. He was denied one directly after going through the proper professional channels. He had to be there anyway to support the LIV players.

Norman expressed hope that more golfers from the Saudi-backed league will receive invitations to the Masters. He also stated that he is rooting for one of his LIV players to win the green jacket.
Norman’s presence at Augusta without an invitation has drawn attention and speculation. Augusta National declined to comment on the matter.
Fans reacted as follows:
I’m shocked that one “his” players wouldn’t have gotten him a ticket. He’s so beloved by them I hear. That is my question. Why didn’t they help him?
— Flying G (@flygriz) April 11, 2024
Fuck no. He’s a customer. Back of the line.

Sounds quite petty to me. But not surprised.

I thought Augusta National prohibited the resale of Masters tickets? 🤔 Could they ban Norman now?

One of the best to ever do it should’ve been granted an entry instead of inviting TikTok influencers.

🇺🇸🏌️♂️ Definitely! Norman is one of golf's greatest treasures, and this should not have even been questioned! 🤔😡

He’s won two majors, ex-major champs, no matter which one, has always been welcome during Masters week. PGA Club Pros get access…. If there was no LIV, he gets a pass, maybe multiple, each year…. LIV is still the issue here
— George Beardsley (@GBeardsley) April 11, 2024
I would not have given him access. I do not believe that he did not receive any negative comments. I know if I was there I would have had a few things to say to him and none of them would have been positive.

As the great literary poet T Swizzle says
Haters gonna hate
Glad to see humanity prevailing and the vast majority of people showing up as lovely non-troll humans, and golf fans

I just had lunch with a good friend yesterday, 35 year PGA teaching professional…he said as a professional courtesy, he gets passes every year. Has to fill out a form, bring form, show his pga card and drivers license and he and many of his fellow pros get in.

I think you are misjudging a small sampling of folks amazed to see him there and trying to be gentlemanly or compassionate since the masters is all about class.
At least in case of the US population, I don’t think your dad‘s attempt to join with a murderous regime and upset golf…— Paul Stephens (@PaulStephensWMO) April 11, 2024
I don't like that the best players in the world can't compete against each other weekly. But, I can confidently say LIV becoming a competitor has elevated professional golf.

Your dad is a badass. He was my favorite golfer when i was growing up. I was impressed that he was also a great businessman. The people that hate on LIV are just jealous and petty. It is good for the game and its fun. The PGA was in San Antonio last week and fun is not part of…

Pretty lame attempt to either grab TV attention by following the feature group or trying to be a distraction to 3 PGA players who hopefully will be there at the end on Sunday. Trust that neither is working.

The fact Greg Norman has had to pay to watch Rory Mcilroy play golf is so hilarious to me
— Dyl (@HoodieUce) April 11, 2024
Of course Norman is looking to ride the coattails of the Masters for free press. Same as he’s done with the PGA Tour. That’s LIVs marketing strategy.
