Former NBA coach and current analyst Stan Van Gundy stirred up a debate by proclaiming Luka Dončić as the “best offensive player” he has ever seen.
Stan stated, “I think the best offensive player now that I’ve ever seen is Luka Dončić… as strictly an offensive player, I think he’s the best I’ve ever seen.”

When questioned further about his bold assertion, Stan highlighted the Slovenian sensation’s versatility, noting his ability to score from all areas of the court, whether it be shooting from deep, driving to the basket, or dominating in the post. He also lauded Dončić’s exceptional passing ability, describing him as “one of the best passers we have ever had in the league.”
Despite being challenged about other legendary offensive players, such as Michael Jordan, Stan remained steadfast in his assessment, attributing the evolution of the game to Dončić’s proficiency from beyond the arc and his overall offensive impact.
While acknowledging that other players may have excelled in both offensive and defensive aspects of the game, Stan emphasized that, strictly in terms of offensive capabilities, Dončić stands atop the list.
