As the NBA regular season wraps up this weekend, we look at some early favorites for the Paris 2024 Men’s Basketball Olympics.
The US team have opened as favorites at -240 with a win probability of 70%, but we saw at last year’s FIBA tournament how teams like Germany and France could represent a real threat.
Serbia is the second favorite and at odds of +400 they could be a decent punt.
Canada and France take up third and fourth according to the bookmaker aggregators.
FIBA winners Germany, Australia, Spain and Slovenia are all medal contenders.
The US did not finish as gold medallists at only two of the last 10 Olympics, not even featuring in the 2004 final which was contested by Argentina and Italy (silver).
France won silver at the Tokyo 2020 games and if the likes of Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama are one form they could be a surprise package again.
Nikola Jokic and his Serbian team finished runners up at the FIBA World Cup last year.
They also have Bogdan Bogdanovic from the Atlanta Hawks as well as the former 76ers’ Filip Petrusev.
For the US Kevin Durant will be looking to make history and become the first Olympic Men’s basketball player to win four gold medals.
Only Carmelo Anthony has more medals with three gold and a bronze.
